Peace of mind when you travel
There's nothing more exciting than an overseas holiday. But no matter where you're going, it's important to organise your finances before you leave.
To ensure you don't have any worries while you're travelling, there's a variety of money options available, including American Express Traveller's Cheques.
What are the benefits of American Express Traveller's Cheques?
American Express Traveller's Cheques are a safe alternative to cash and can be readily exchanged at millions of shops, hotels and restaurants. They can also be encashed, commission-free, at over 65,000 bank locations, foreign exchange bureaus, and travel agencies, including 1,700 American Express Travel and Foreign Exchange offices. You can visit the American Expresswebsite for a list of fee-free encashment locations at your chosen destination.
How do I use traveller's cheques?
You can use your American Express Traveller's Cheques like cash to pay for goods and services in shops, hotels, and restaurants. Alternatively, you can encash them for local currency in most banks and foreign exchange bureaus worldwide.
When using your traveller's cheques, the process is simple: acceptors need only watch you sign your traveller's cheques and then compare the signatures. It's that easy.
When and where should I purchase my traveller's cheques?
Simply visit your local NAB branch about a week prior to your departure to purchase your American Express Traveller's Cheques, available in eight different currencies. Your NAB customer service assistant can help you with the right selection for your destination.
What other travel money options are available?
In addition to traveller's cheques, NAB provides foreign currency notes and credit cards. Whilst there are different advantages associated with all three options, for peace of mind, we recommend that you take a combination of all three. This will give you the flexibility and security you want when travelling.
The currency you select will vary according to your travel destination. The following guide should help.
