NAB Smart Statements

Terms and Conditions

NAB Smart Statements delivers electronic statements of account through NAB Internet Banking (the service) for eligible accounts. As an additional functionality of the service, these terms and conditions apply to your access to NAB Smart Statements together with the terms and conditions for the service.If there is any inconsistency between the terms and conditions for NAB Smart Statements or the service, then the NAB Smart Statements terms and conditions prevail with respect to delivery of and access to NAB Smart Statements.

Eligibility

1.1 You may register for NAB Smart Statements within the service if you are:

  1. an accountholder of an eligible account; and
  2. a registered user of the service.

1.2 NAB Smart Statements are not available to authorised users of the service who are not an accountholder of an eligible account.

Joint account holders

2.1 Each joint accountholder of an eligible account may separately register for NAB Smart Statements through the service. A paper statement will continue to be sent to any joint accountholder who has not registered for NAB Smart Statements.

2.2 Where joint accountholders for an eligible account have nominated a single statement be sent to a nominated mailing address, each accountholder may register for NAB Smart Statements. The single paper statement for the account will continue to be sent to the nominated mailing address until that instruction to NAB is revoked.

Nominated accounts

3.1 NAB determines which accounts are eligible accounts for NAB Smart Statements. Further information about eligible accounts is available in the FAQs issued for NAB Smart Statements which is accessible on NAB's website.

3.2 At registration, you may nominate an eligible account for NAB Smart Statements if that account is accessible by you within the service. You may subsequently change your nominated account(s) settings through the service.

3.3 Following selection of a nominated account for NAB Smart Statements, you will no longer receive paper statements for that account (except for accounts jointly held for which a single paper statement is issued as referred to above).

Delivery of NAB Smart Statements

4.1 A NAB Smart Statement for your nominated account is delivered through the service according to the statement cycle for that account. The statement cycle for each nominated account is subject to the terms and conditions for that account.

4.2 For each NAB Smart Statement you will be notified by email to your nominated email address of the availability of your NAB Smart Statement in the service.

4.3 NAB Smart Statements are taken to be received on the day that the email enters the information system of your internet service provider or the host of your email address.

Access to NAB Smart Statements

5.1 You may access each NAB Smart Statement which is available for your nominated account(s) within the service for a period of up to 7 years from the date of the statement.

5.2 For each NAB Smart Statement you may:

  • View;
  • Print; and/or
  • Save it to an electronic file.

5.3 You need to be aware that joint accountholders who are subsequently added to a nominated account, may then access NAB Smart Statements for the nominated account for a period before they became a joint accountholder to the nominated account.

Nominated Email address

6.1 At registration, you must provide a valid email address for delivery of email notifications of NAB Smart Statements. You may subsequently change your nominated email address through the service.

6.2 You must keep your nominated email address current and active to continue to be registered for NAB Smart Statements. If after 3 return deliveries to the latest nominated email address we cannot complete an email notification, you will no longer be registered for NAB Smart Statements. In this case you will be sent paper statements at the nominated mailing address for the nominated account(s).

6.3 To resume the service you will need to complete registration again for NAB Smart Statements for each nominated account.

Your responsibilities

7.1 It is important to keep your contact details held with us current, including your nominated email address.

7.2 While registered for NAB Smart Statements, you must:

  1. check your emails regularly;
  2. ensure your mailbox can receive notifications for example, it has sufficient storage space available;
  3. ensure your mailbox junk mail and spam filters allow receipt of emails from 'nab.com.au'
  4. tell NAB if you are unable to access your email, NAB Internet Banking or NAB Smart Statements for any reason;
  5. regularly check for delivery of your NAB Smart Statements regardless of whether or not you have received an email notification; and
  6. take reasonable and appropriate security measures in relation to your computer.

Cancelling NAB Smart Statements

8.1 You may deregister from NAB Smart Statements for any or all of the nominated accounts at any time, by changing your registered settings within the service back to having paper statements mailed.

8.2 NAB may at any time terminate your access to NAB Smart Statements for any or all nominated account(s). If so, NAB will provide notice to you at your nominated email address as soon as reasonably practicable after doing so.

Changes to these terms and conditions

9.1 Any change to the NAB Smart Statements terms and conditions will be notified to you in compliance with the notice provisions in the terms and conditions for the service.

Fees for NAB Smart Statements

10.1 Registration, access to and delivery of NAB Smart Statements is free of fees and charges.

10.2 While registered for NAB Smart Statements, you may request a paper statement for a nominated account, that has previously been delivered within the service. A fee will apply which is set out in NAB's 'A Guide to Fees and Charges – Personal Banking Fees'.

Meaning of words

accountholder
means a person who has an eligible account in their own name or, if in joint names, in respect of which NAB may act on the instructions of any 1 or more of them. authorised user means a person authorised by the accountholder to access or operate through the service an account nominated by the accountholder.
eligible account
means an account for which NAB determines statements of account can be delivered electronically through the service.
FAQ
means the list of Frequently Asked Questions available for NAB Smart Statements
NAB
means National Australia Bank Limited (ABN 12 004 044 937) and includes its successors and assigns.
nominated account
means an eligible account which you have selected for NAB Smart Statements to be accessed through the service.
service
means NAB Internet Banking and has the same meaning in the terms and conditions for NAB Internet Banking.
user
means you as an accountholder of the nominated account(s) and registered NAB Internet Banking customer.
website
means the NAB's website at nab.com.au
you and your
means you as an accountholder of the nominated account(s) who has accepted these terms and conditions and 'your' has a corresponding meaning.
