As part of our ongoing security commitment to NAB Internet Banking customers, we are pleased to announce the introduction of NAB's second factor authentication solution, SMS security.
What is SMS security and how does it protect me?
-
When you login to Internet Banking, you use your NAB ID and password - a single factor of authentication (something you know)
-
The same password is used to make payments outside of your own accounts if you have this level of access
-
If your NAB ID and password is compromised in anyway, a fraudster may be able to transfer funds out of your accounts
-
SMS security is an effective and convenient form of second factor authentication using your mobile phone (something you have)
-
At the time of making a payment outside of your own accounts, within seconds, we send you a unique one time password via sms to complete the payment
"If the single factor has been compromised, the fraudster doesn't have the second factor and can't complete the payment. The SMS also alerts you that the attempt has been made - saving your money!"
Once registered, it applies to making payments from all accounts in your Internet Banking account list. It does not affect funds transfers to accounts in your Internet Banking account list, checking Account balances or Transaction history.
To register:
