National Australia Bank (NAB) has made financial support immediately available to the relief effort in Burma, with an initial $200,000 to be shared between CARE Australia and World Vision in support of the emergency relief effort underway in Burma.
To further support the appeal, the National Australia Bank will be accepting donations on behalf of the Care Australia's emergency appeal in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis that devastated Myanmar on Saturday 3 May.
CARE will be concentrating relief efforts on the provision of water, food and sanitation in areas severely affected by Cyclone Nargis. Significant funds will be needed to ensure CARE can rapidly deliver immediate assistance to the thousands of people affected by the Cyclone.
CARE Australia is calling on Australians to give generously. In an emergency, as little as $10 can provide plastic sheeting to give shelter for a family or enough food for a mother and her children for a week.
Donations can be made at any branch of the NAB across Australia, or customers can transfer funds via internet banking by using the following account details:
Account Name: Care Australia Project Fund- ref: ydr61
BSB: 082-902
Account Number: 47-660-2744
Or call CARE Australia's Cyclone Nargis Appeal phone 1800 020 046 or donate online at Care Australia
