On 5 September, the 2007 NAB AFL Rising Star Award was announced - a big congratulations to the winner - Joel Selwood of the Geelong Cats! NAB proudly supports the rising star, a prestigious medal recognising the best of the AFL's young players.
Selwood, a 19 year-old midfielder is also the first ever recipient of the Ron Evans medal. Making his debut in Round One with the Cats, Joel quickly made himself an integral part of the dominant Geelong side, earning him a Rising Star nomination in Round 5.
NAB's involvement with the NAB AFL Rising Star is all part of our commitment to helping people achieve their dreams. NAB also plays a key role in Australian Rules Football at a grassroots and localised level, by encouraging young children to aspire to their dreams - of being a star just like Joel - through NAB AFL Auskick.
