Work/Life Balance

Flexible Working

For graduates, roles are full-time. It is quite common for you to be granted study leave if you are undertaking further courses or for people to work from home on occasion. Individual requests would be considered by your people leader on a case-by-case basis.

As you progress through the organisation there is a range of flexible work opportunities to help you to balance work and personal responsibilities including:

  • Part-time work
  • Job share
  • Job splitting
  • Telecommuting

Some examples of reasons for choosing a flexible work option include:

  • Coming back to work after having children
  • Being responsible for child care or elderly family members
  • Participating in community work
  • Pursuing sporting commitments
  • Study

Support when Sick (SWS)

SwS supports you when you are ill and unable to work on a 'needs and trust' basis and replaces your sick leave entitlement (eg. I get 12 sick days per year). You may have to provide a medical certificate where your absence exceeds two consecutive working days or four single absences in one year.

SwS reflects the type of culture NAB is moving towards. It encourages mutual trust between you and your people leader, but is also aligned to our Corporate Principles of being open and honest and treating everyone with fairness and respect.
