Grad Chat
In 2009 when the Graduate Recruitment drive gears up again, our Graduates will be online to answer your questions
Your Graduate Experience
At National Australia Bank we offer a diverse range of graduate programs to suit all interests. For example, in some business units you will experience different parts of the business through structured rotations and development, while other units are more specialised and focus on specific skills and knowledge.
From before you even begin with us, we like to make sure that you feel a part of what will be an exciting journey!
In your first twelve months you'll participate in a series of three Development Days with fellow graduates from across all parts of the business and from all states. These days are a wonderful opportunity to network with your colleagues as well as develop some of your soft skills, learning more about yourself, working in teams and future career paths within the National Australia Bank.
Compliance training
During your first three months with NAB, you'll complete mandatory training to ensure you're aware of NAB's compliance and risk issues.
Role specific training
You'll receive role-specific training to develop the technical skills required to perform effectively. Each business unit conducts their own training to suit their needs and different graduate roles.

Professional development
We'll support you in completing a range of professional development courses including the CA or CPA Program or FINSIA courses. Study leave may be available to you.
Performance management
Like all employees at NAB, you'll have a Performance Scorecard that identifies your performance targets and sets the performance expectations. As well, every employee has an Individual Development Plan (IDP). You'll identify your current capability/learning gaps, your strengths and career aspirations and understand your learning styles then work closely with your people leader to achieve your goals.
gradQuest
Towards the end of your first year, you may have the opportunity to participate in gradQuest, our graduate talent program, based on your performance, potential and motivation. gradQuest is a 13 week, cross-business unit project working in teams on a real business issue to make recommendations at a presentation to senior leaders. During the journey, you'll spend time learning about what makes a high-performing team, as well as working on setting goals, research, analysis and presentation skills.
Graduate Committee
The Graduate Committee organises a range of social activities for graduates in each state during the year, as well as producing the graduate newsletter keeping you up to date with what everyone has been up to around the country. The Graduate Committee also maintains a "Graduate Wiki" on the intranet where you can easily communicate with all your fellow graduates! Over time, the graduates will form an alumni network so that you'll be able to network with senior leaders who started as graduates in the past!
Green grads
With NAB going carbon neutral by 2010, our grads believe that they have a unique opportunity to influence the organisation from the ground up, and across a wide range of areas. The grads are using their energy and enthusiasm to reduce energy consumption, reduce car and air travel emissions, offset emissions and for them it is all about being individually responsible, knowing that every bit counts and that "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Newsletter
The graduate newsletter is written and produced by the grads themselves on a quarterly basis. It covers all the social and development activities during the year.
Alumni
We're establishing an alumni network for graduates at NAB. This will enable new graduates joining NAB to have contact with more senior people who have started as graduates, and to use these people as mentors.
Benefits and rewards
We believe in rewarding hard work and talent, and offer a highly competitive and flexible salary package. As well as your salary, we have a Short Term Incentive plan that recognises and rewards individual achievements.
You'll have access to all the fantastic perks available to all NAB staff, like fee-free banking, discounted financial services and products, tax and legal assistance and fun stuff like discounted cinema tickets.
